REVIEW: MTM HyperTec (Teil 1)

SIHH 2015: A. Lange & Söhne - ZEITWERK MINUTENREPETITION

The new sound of the time - the first Lange watch with a decimal minute repetition
In the exclusive class of wristwatches with percussions, the ZEITWERK MINUTENREPETITION is a technical sensation: in a clear design, it connects for the first time a mechanical jumping number display with a decimal minute repetition.
ALS_147_025_M02_webWith the ZEITWERK MINUTENREPETITION, A. Lange & Söhne presents for the first time a model with a percussion, which lets the hours, ten minutes intervals and minutes sound. The acoustic reproduction corresponds exactly to the digital display - always when the percussion is triggered by a trigger. A low tone for each completed hour, a double tone for the completed ten minutes, and a high tone for each completed minute give the displayed time again.
ALS_147_025_D01_webDuring the development of the Schlagwerk for the ZEITWERK MINUTENREPETITION, the designers were able to use the basic principle of the jumping mechanism: the time is not represented by pointers but by an hour ring and two minutes. Thus, the time to be reproduced can be scanned separately for hours, tens of minutes and minutes by means of three relays connected to the display mechanics.
ALS_L043_5_striking_mechanism_illu_webALS_147_025_M01_webInstead of the usual slider, the ZEITWERK MINUTENREPETITION has an elaborate pusher mechanism for triggering the impact mechanism. In order to achieve the highest sound quality, the designers have coordinated clockwork and housing to the smallest detail. The tuning of the sound springs requires a trained hearing and is carried out exclusively by hand, until each of the two springs sound harmonious and long-lasting - and they are in perfect harmony with each other.
Designed to the last detail
Countless work and tuning steps were needed to ensure the smooth interaction and lasting functional safety of all 771-piece movement mechanisms. In order to exclude any possible operating errors, the designers met a technical safety precaution. Since the setting of the clock would lead to mechanical conflicts when the striking mechanism is triggered, the crown can not be pulled while the striking mechanism is running. When the striking mechanism is activated, the wheel train of the elevator is decoupled from the ratchet wheel, which drives the striking mechanism. Due to the decoupling, it is avoided that the wheel train of the elevator together with the crown rotates during repetitive operation, and thus a lot of energy is lost. This also retards the switching of the dials until the repetition process is completed. The maximum striking time at 12.59 hrs is about 20 seconds. This ensures that in any case the acoustic signal corresponds to the displayed time. As the repetition process can always take place completely and the clock is not inadvertently brought to a standstill, the beater can no longer be used for a gear reserve of less than twelve hours trigger. This is indicated by a red mark on the gear reserve display. Since the elevator spring drives the percussion mechanism via the ratchet wheel, the number of triggered repetitions as well as their length have an influence on the available reserve reserve of a maximum of 36 hours. In any case, the acoustic signal corresponds to the displayed time. The modern face of a great tradition
The ZEITWERK MINUTENREPETITION stands for uncompromising creative clarity with its easy-to-read jump-rate display. The patented after-tensioning system ensures a constant driving force over the entire operating time. As a pulse generator for the switching process, it reliably controls the numerical display from minute to minute.
ALS_L043_5_Zeitwerk_MR_109966_109966_RS_webThe manufactory caliber L043.5, which works in the TIME MINUTES REPETITION, is completed by hand with the utmost care and effort. The eccentric rest with a free-swinging oscillating spiral of its own production oscillates under the hand-engraved balance cock with a frequency of 18,000 half oscillations per hour. The sounding timepiece with a diameter of 44.2 millimeters is only available in platinum. The solid silver dial is rhodium-colored. The time bridge made of black rhodium-plated nickel silver framed the windows of the hour and minute display arranged on one level. The two hammer hammers are made of black polished steel and are integrated visibly on both sides of the small second: on the left the hours and right the Einminuteuten beaten;
ALS_147_025_FS_webThe ZEITWERK MINUTENREPETITION is the second model from the ZEITWERK family, which has been made to sound. The new design makes it a further milestone in the impressive series of innovative watch designs by A. Lange & Söhne.
